Spiced Chickpea Fritters with Fried Eggs Recipe


This is a yummy breakfast dish. It's made with chickpea flour and spices, shaped into fritters, and fried until golden. Then, we cook eggs and put them on top. It's a little spicy and very tasty!


2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chickpea flour (besan)
1/2 cup water
4 large eggs
Salt to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
Tamarind sauce, to serve


In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, grated ginger, chopped cilantro, ground turmeric, mustard seeds, chili powder, baking soda, chickpea flour, and a pinch of salt. Add water and mix until you have a thick batter.
Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. With wet hands, take a portion of the batter and form a patty. Fry the patties in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
For the eggs, heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and fry to your liking, seasoning with a little salt.
Serve the chickpea fritters with a fried egg on top and a drizzle of tamarind sauce. Enjoy your spiced and hearty breakfast!
