Shrimp Cocktail recipe


This is a yummy seafood snack. It has juicy shrimp with a tangy sauce. You dip the shrimp in the sauce. It's a fun and fancy food for parties or a special dinner.


1 lb shell-on jumbo shrimp, deveined
1/4 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 lemons, halved
6 cups water
1 cup ketchup
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
2 tbsp prepared horseradish
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp hot sauce
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Lemon slices (for serving)


In a large saucepan, combine 1/4 cup kosher salt, 1/4 cup sugar, and 6 cups water. Squeeze the juice of 2 lemons into the pot and add the lemon halves.
Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the salt and sugar dissolve. Remove from heat.
Add 1 lb of shell-on jumbo shrimp to the pot and poach for 3 1/2 minutes.
Prepare a bowl with ice water and transfer the shrimp to stop the cooking process. Let them sit for 10 minutes, then drain, peel, and pat dry.
For the cocktail sauce, mix 1 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 tbsp prepared horseradish, 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp hot sauce, and 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce in a bowl. Chill until ready to serve.
Serve the shrimp with the cocktail sauce and lemon slices on the side.
