Paneer with Spicy Tomato Sauce recipe

Stashcook

This is a cheesy dish with a spicy kick. We use paneer, which is a type of cheese, and cook it in a sauce made with tomatoes, garlic, and spices. It's a little bit hot and very yummy. You can eat it with rice or bread.

Ingredients

500 g Paneer
2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour
2 Tbsp Cornstarch
1 Tsp Ground Coriander
1/2 Tsp Turmeric
1 Tsp Paprika
6 Garlic Cloves
6 cm Knob Of Ginger
4 Green Finger Chillies
1 Large Onion
1 Red Bell Pepper
2 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
80 ml Soy Sauce
150 g Tomato Paste
2 Tbsp Honey
Sunflower Oil for frying
1/4 cup Water
2 Tbsp Chopped Cilantro for garnish

Method

1
Cut the paneer into 1-inch cubes and set aside.
2
Make a paste by finely grating the ginger, mincing the garlic, and chopping the green chillies. Set aside.
3
In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, tomato paste, honey, apple cider vinegar, and water to create the sauce.
4
In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, ground coriander, turmeric, and paprika.
5
Heat sunflower oil in a pan over medium heat. Toss the paneer cubes in the flour mixture until well coated.
6
Fry the coated paneer cubes in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
7
In the same pan, reduce the amount of oil to about 2 tablespoons and sauté the ginger-garlic-chilli paste for 2 minutes until fragrant.
8
Add the chopped onion and red bell pepper to the pan and cook until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
9
Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the vegetables and bring to a simmer.
10
Add the fried paneer to the sauce and cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.
11
Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.
