Honey-Glazed Chicken Wraps recipe


This recipe is for delicious chicken wraps with a sweet honey glaze. You cook chicken until it's tender, then make it crispy. Wrap it in soft tortillas with veggies and a tasty sauce.


1 large yellow onion
6 cloves of garlic
3 cm piece of ginger
1 kg boneless chicken thighs
1 tbsp Chinese 5 spice powder
1 cinnamon stick
3 tbsp honey
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp rice wine vinegar
3 tbsp hoisin sauce, plus extra for serving
1 large carrot
12 small flour tortillas
2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Salt to taste


Peel and finely chop the yellow onion, garlic, and ginger.
Cut the chicken thighs into large 5 cm chunks.
In a large pot over medium-high heat, add the sesame oil. Brown the chicken chunks on all sides, then remove from the pot.
In the same pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and ginger until golden, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the Chinese 5 spice powder and cinnamon stick, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in 500 ml of water, honey, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir well and return the chicken to the pot.
Cover and simmer on low heat for 3 to 4 hours, until the chicken is very tender and pulls apart easily.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet, shredding it with two forks. Spread it out in a thin layer and drizzle with a bit more honey.
Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until the edges are crispy and caramelized.
While the chicken is in the oven, peel and julienne the carrot.
Warm the tortillas according to the package instructions.
To assemble, spread a teaspoon of hoisin sauce on a tortilla, add some crispy chicken, julienned carrot, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Roll up the tortillas and serve warm.
