Herbed Lemon Basmati Rice recipe

This is a yummy rice dish with a twist of lemon and herbs. You cook the rice with water and add lemon zest for a fresh taste. Then you mix in herbs before you eat it. It's good with lots of different foods.

Ingredients

240 g Basmati Rice
480 ml Water
1 Lemon, zested
2 tbsp Fresh Parsley, chopped
1 tbsp Fresh Cilantro, chopped
1/2 tsp Salt

Method

Rinse 240 g of Basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

Soak the rinsed rice in water for 30 minutes to improve the texture of the rice.

Drain the rice and add it to a saucepan with 480 ml of water and 1/2 tsp of salt.

Bring the rice and water to a boil without a lid, then reduce to a low simmer.

Add the zest of 1 lemon to the saucepan and stir gently.

Cover the saucepan with a lid and let the rice simmer for 15 minutes. Avoid stirring the rice during this time.

Turn off the heat and let the rice stand, covered, for 3 minutes to steam and finish cooking.

Fluff the rice with a fork and gently mix in 2 tbsp of chopped fresh parsley and 1 tbsp of chopped fresh cilantro.

Serve the herbed lemon Basmati rice as a delicious side to your favorite main dish.
