Chocolate Drizzle Poached Pears Recipe

Chocolate Drizzle Poached Pears recipe

Stashcook

This is a sweet treat made with soft pears cooked in a tasty liquid. Then, we pour warm chocolate on top. It's yummy with ice cream and a little bit of salt!

Ingredients

4 ripe Bosc pears
200 g granulated sugar
150 ml red wine
1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped
1 cinnamon stick
120 g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
60 ml heavy cream
4 scoops vanilla ice cream
A pinch of sea salt flakes

Method

1
Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact. Slice a small piece from the bottom of each pear so they stand upright.
2
In a saucepan large enough to hold all the pears, combine the sugar, red wine, vanilla pod and seeds, cinnamon stick, and 500 ml of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
3
Place the pears in the simmering liquid, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the pears are tender but not falling apart.
4
Carefully remove the pears from the liquid and set aside. Increase the heat and reduce the liquid by half to create a syrup, then remove from heat.
5
For the chocolate sauce, combine the chopped chocolate and heavy cream in a small saucepan. Melt over low heat, stirring until smooth.
6
To serve, place a pear on each plate, drizzle with the chocolate sauce, and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over the dessert.
