Cheese and Mushroom Stromboli recipe


This is a yummy bread roll filled with cheese, mushrooms, and spices. It's like a pizza that you can hold in your hand! You roll up all the tasty things inside dough and bake it until it's golden.


1/4 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 loaf (1 pound) frozen pizza dough, thawed
4 ounces thinly sliced ham
4 ounces thinly sliced mozzarella cheese
1/4 pound thinly sliced provolone cheese
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 egg, beaten


Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
In a skillet, sauté mushrooms in olive oil until tender; set aside.
On a lightly floured surface, roll pizza dough into a 16x10-inch rectangle.
On the long side of the dough, layer ham, mozzarella, provolone, sautéed mushrooms, pizza sauce, basil, and thyme.
Roll up the dough tightly from the long side and pinch the edges to seal.
Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the top of the stromboli with the beaten egg.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool for 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.
