Broccoli, Garlic, and Citrus Fusilli recipe

This is a yummy pasta with broccoli, garlic, and a twist of orange. You cook the pasta and broccoli together. Then you mix them with garlic and orange for a fresh taste. It's a fun meal for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

1 head of broccoli, cut into florets
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
350 g fusilli pasta
1 orange, zested and juiced
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Salt to taste
Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Method

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and fusilli pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the pasta's package instructions until al dente.

While the pasta and broccoli are cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, and cook for about 2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.

Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water and then drain the pasta and broccoli.

Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the pan with the garlic and red pepper flakes. Pour in the orange juice and half of the reserved pasta water to create a sauce. Stir well to combine.

Season with salt to taste and add more of the pasta water if needed to reach your desired sauce consistency.

Serve the pasta in bowls, topped with orange zest and optional grated Parmesan cheese.
