Stashcook

This is a yummy bread stuffed with sausage, sweet apples, and onions. You cook apples and onions until they're soft. Then you cook sausage and put it all in a big bread with mustard and ketchup.

Ingredients

12 pork sausages
1 large baguette
3 tbsp whole grain mustard
4 green apples
4 yellow onions
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp barbecue sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste

Method

1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
2
Prepare the apples by coring and quartering them. Place them on a baking tray, drizzle with 1 tbsp of olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 30 minutes or until very soft.
3
While the apples are baking, peel and finely slice the yellow onions. In a frying pan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil and add the onions. Cook on medium-low heat until they are soft and golden. Season with salt and pepper.
4
Take the sausages and remove the meat from the casings. Combine the sausage meat into a large patty that matches the length of your baguette.
5
Wrap the sausage patty in foil and bake on a tray for 40 minutes.
6
After baking, remove the sausage from the foil and grill for 2 minutes on each side to brown the crust. Watch closely to prevent burning.
7
Take the apples out of the oven and mash them to a rough consistency, then mix in 2 tbsp of honey for sweetness.
8
Slice the baguette lengthwise and spread butter on one side and whole grain mustard on the other.
9
Layer the mashed apples on the buttered side of the baguette.
10
Place the cooked sausage on top of the apples.
11
Spread the caramelized onions on the other side of the baguette.
12
Drizzle barbecue sauce over the sausage for a smoky flavor.
13
Close the baguette, slice into portions, and serve warm.
